YEREVAN. – The dates for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Armenia are clarified, Hraparak daily reports.

“According to our sources, it will take place at the end of October.

“Apparently, with this visit Russia is attempting to prevent Armenia’s participation in the Vilnius summit [of the Eastern Partnership, which will be convened in the Lithuanian capital city in November], where an [Armenia-European Union (EU)] Association Agreement will not be signed, but there is already an arrangement with the European side on the signing of any symbolic document, which will ensure the continuity of EU-Armenia relations,” Hraparak writes.

To note, following the talks that were held on September 3 in Moscow between Armenian and Russian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, Sargsyan had announced that Armenia plans to join the Customs Union and subsequently engage in the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union.
