YEREVAN. – The attorney of Davit Vardanyan, son of Armenia’s Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Vardanyan, did not disclose to the journalists as where his client is serving his time saying there are five or six prisons in Armenia, and he is one of them, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“[But] Zhoghovurd found out that Vardanyan’s son is at the Yerevan-Kentron penal complex, which is considered to be a very strict penitentiary,” Zhoghovurd writes.                    

To note, Sport and Youth Affairs Minister Yuri Vardanyan’s eldest son, Davit Vardanyan, 29, was arrested on the Iran-Armenia border recently. Davit Vardanyan was detained while attempting to smuggle drugs at the border. Subsequently, he was arrested and sent to the detention center of capital city Yerevan’s investigation department. A criminal case is opened against Davit Vardanyan, and on charges of illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs.
