YEREVAN. – During Wednesday’s question & answer period at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan did not shed light on the consequences of “chopping up” unemployment benefits, Zhamanak daily reports.

“To note, during the [recent] Budget 2014 discussions [at the NA], PM Tigran Sargsyan had substantiated the [Government decision on] termination of the provision of unemployment benefits on the fact that they were used ineffectively because, in 94 percent of the cases, they were received by [socially] secure people who did not even seek jobs, and [, as a result,] these [monetary] means were ‘pulverized,’ [and] therefore [, as per the PM,] the right thing to do is to end them [i.e., the unemployment benefits],” Zhamanak writes.
