YEREVAN. – The informed sources of Zhoghovurd daily say that structural changes are expected in several Armenian state agencies, the daily reports.

“Divisions on cooperation with the [Russian-led] Customs Union [CU] will be established.

“To recall, when [President] Serzh Sargsyan was progressing along the road to European integration, departments on cooperation with Europe and the EU were established in a number of state agencies. One such agency is the Ministry of Economy, where there are [two respective] departments.

“Anahit Khechoyan, Head of the Ministry Information and Public Relations Department, told Zhoghovurd: ‘The ministry may undergo some structural changes, but this does not mean that we have stopped cooperation with the EU,’” Zhoghovurd writes.

Following the talks that were held on September 3 in Moscow between Armenian and Russian Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, Sargsyan had announced that Armenia plans to join the Customs Union and subsequently engage in the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Aside from Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan likewise are members in the Customs Union.
