YEREVAN. – In the case of Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union (CU), the same customs procedure will automatically apply also for the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).  

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vice-Chairman, RPA National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Galust Sahakyan told the aforesaid to Zhoghovurd daily.

“According to him, since Armenia does not have a separate customs checkpoint with the NKR, the same procedure should be applied also in the case of [Armenia’s] accession to the Customs Union.    

‘“Karabakh is considered a border area of Armenia,’ the RPA [NA] Faction head told Zhoghovurd adding that, just like Karabakh imports or exports today, it will be the same way at that time [, too]. ‘No problems will arise.’      

“Thus, we can conclude: the sole encouraging thing is that the CU will de facto accept the NKR’s status as a part of Armenia,” Zhoghovurd writes.
