YEREVAN. – The natural gas consumers of Armenia’s capital city Yerevan have used 2-2.5 cubic meters more gas in December 2013, as compared to December 2012, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun daily reports.

“Hrant Tadevosyan, Deputy Director of the ArmRusGazprom Company [of Armenia], told this. According to him, there is one reason for this: the frosty winter [of this year].

“And the ArmRusGazprom deputy director considered unfounded the statements that the gas spending increased this year also because of the low calorific value [of the Russian gas being supplied].

‘“Gas is considered good quality when its calorific value is higher than 7,600, and the gas being imported to Armenia has an indicator higher than 8,000.’

“In addition, according to him, the gas usage equipment likewise has a great significance.

‘“Any [natural gas] device can be configured so that your tea or coffee can brew ten times more quickly. The question is what kind of device to use,’” Chorrord Ishkhanutyun writes.
