YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan rejected the proposal by the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MPs, Aravot daily reports.

“The Prosperous Armenia [National Assembly] Faction deputies had proposed, in the form of a legislative initiative, to institute Students’ Day in the holiday calendar of the republic.

“[But] according to the government session agenda, Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan will explain to the PAP MPs, at Thursday’s cabinet meeting, why the government did not find it expedient to add one more holiday on the holiday calendar.

“According to the government’s reasoning, ‘The list of international days and holidays is large. The number of holidays is about 116 in the UN list alone,”’ Aravot writes.
