YEREVAN. – Bidding farewell to his post, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe’s (PACE) now former President Jean-Claude Mignon analyzed his activities in this capacity, Aravot daily reports.

‘“Let’s go, Armenia and Azerbaijan! You need to achieve progress in the settlement of the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict.’ Jean-Claude Mignon expressed such a view on the first day of the PACE Winter Session.     

“Reflecting on the Armenian-Azerbaijani rapprochement and the settlement of the problem, Mr. Mignon noted: ‘I believe I have succeeded in strengthening Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.’    

“Recalling that Azerbaijan will assume the Chairmanship of the PACE Committee of Ministers in May of this year, Mr. Mignon expressed the hope that the Azerbaijani party likewise will make the appropriate efforts to achieve progress in the settlement of the conflict.     

“Concluding his remarks, Jean-Claude Mignon said that the [Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)] Minsk Group should continue to work toward the settlement of the conflict,” Aravot writes.
