YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia plans to sign, with the Government of the Russian Federation (RF), an agreement on the organized recruitment of Armenian citizens to work temporarily in the RF, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“According to our information, the agreement is on Russia’s initiative. And it seems this agreement will supplement, or replace, the well-known ‘Compatriots’ [RF] state program, which is carried out in our country by the Armenia representation of the federal migration service of that country. The latter offers Armenian citizens jobs [in Russia] with appealing conditions, but solely in the remote settlements of the RF.

“It is noteworthy that the word ‘immigration’ is regularly used in the draft agreement; that is, accordingly, the Armenian citizens traveling to Russia to work will not emigrate, but rather immigrate,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
