YEREVAN. – The National Security Council (NSC) did not respond to our query as to whether Armenia would agree to take part in military operations against Ukraine if Russia were to ask for such assistance from Armenia, as a CSTO member partner, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

‘“The RF [i.e., Russian Federation] President [Vladimir Putin] stated about the exclusion of a military action against Ukraine; this says everything,’ the [N]SC secretary’s spokesperson responded to our query.

“This refers to the idea, which Putin voiced during a press conference, that, as of yet, there is no need for starting military operations in Crimea; that is, had the Russian-Ukrainian war not been ruled out, Armenia would have participated in it.

“In any case, the response received from NSC does not give any ground for asserting the contrary,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
