YEREVAN. – A severe challenge awaits Armenia in Strasbourg, France, in several days, Zhamanak daily reported.

“The Armenian delegation to PACE [Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe] will participate, at the [PACE] Spring Session, in the discussion and [subsequent] voting on the Russian issue.

“In all likelihood, during the discussions a motion will be made to end, suspend Russia’s membership to PACE, to deny Russia the right to vote [in PACE]. And when voting on this motion, the Armenian delegation likewise will have to vote.

“The head of the delegation is Davit Harutyunyan from the [ruling] RPA [Republican Party of Armenia], who also heads the parliamentary ad hoc committee on [natural] gas, which is a very delicate moment considering [the Russian energy giant] Gazprom’s ‘kingdom’ in Armenia in the gas industry.

“Perhaps, Harutyunyan and his delegation members will bless the days when resolutions concerning Armenia were voted at PACE,” Zhamanak wrote.
