YEREVAN. – Armenia Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian recently conducted a small voyage to Belarus and Russia, Zhamanak daily reported.

“In Russia, Nalbandian met with [Russian FM Sergei] Lavrov, and then traveled to Minsk and met with the Belarus FM, and [Belarus President Alexander] Lukashenko.

“What’s noteworthy is that Nalbandian was invited from Belarus, and before leaving there, he might have received instructions from Lavrov as to what he had to say in Minsk

“But the [Armenian foreign] minister should have told Lavrov to tighten a little the tongue of Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin, who days ago stated that if they [Russia] see interference in Armenia’s internal affairs, they will intervene.

“In other words, this is nothing more than an announcement that if Russia finds it necessary, it will carry out military operations at any time in Armenia, too, and it does not care about the view of the Armenian authorities.

“But there is no information that Nalbandian had said something like this [to tighten the Russian ambassador’s tongue] to Lavrov,” Zhamanak wrote.
