YEREVAN. – Armenia has not yet joined the Eurasian Economic Union, but already feels the consequences of sanctions, Zhoghovurd newspaper writes.

“Speaking about Armenia's membership to the Eurasian Union amid sanctions against Russia, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has recently said that 'membership is in Armenia's interests in terms of strategy and economic development. Our membership cannot be put into doubt'. However, Armenia already feels the impact of sanctions without joining the Union,” Zhoghovurd writes.

The newspaper points to the reducing volume of remittances from Russia. In the second quarter of 2013, remittances totaled more than $369.5 million, and only $364 million this year.
