YEREVAN. – Russian political analyst Sergey Markedonov believes the threat of giving turning of Karabakh conflict into an international issue is growing, Zhamanak newspaper writes.

In an interview with Zhamanak newspaper he said the threat of becoming international issue implies broader processes, including military and political integration crisis in the post-Soviet area.

“The tension is dangerous in the context of deep confrontation between the West and Russia amid transformations in the post-Soviet area. The difference of approaches are not related to one country, but the entire post-Soviet area. U.S., France and Russia are the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, but the Ukrainian crisis has nearly blocked their work in all other directions. Therefore, tension in Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict area is their examination for constructiveness and effectiveness,” Markedonov said.
