YEREVAN. – It became apparent Thursday that the Russian Federation (RF) and Turkey have signed a protocol on the expansion of the importing of Turkish goods into Russia, Zhoghovurd daily reported.

“We should agree that the Russian-Turkish agreements already question, to a great extent, the results which the Armenian authorities expect [in Armenian-Russian trade].

“After all, Turkey has far greater chances [than Armenia] to attract the Russian market. It is enough to just mention the direct sea boundary with RF, which [the boundary] reduces [the price of] exporting of goods several times.

“Armenia, on the other hand, exports goods to RF via Georgia, which is on the path of European integration. And it is known to many what the situation is, on a regular basis, at the Upper Larsi [border] checkpoint [between Georgia and Russia],” Zhoghovurd wrote.
