YEREVAN. – The official comments of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Italy noted that Italy had expressed a full support to Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and that the strategic cooperation declaration, which was adopted, as if says that, in the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, the parties had based themselves on Azerbaijan’s “sovereignty, territorial integrity, border stability, and on five UN resolutions,” Zhamanak daily reported.

“But it was found out that there are no such lines in the declaration, and the Italian embassy in [Azerbaijan’s capital city] Baku released a statement to prevent the volitional interpretations of the Azerbaijani-Italian joint statement.

“[In addition], official Rome considered it necessary to address the matter on the level of the MFA, too, by disseminating a statement denying the false information, [thereby] dealing a fatal blow to the Azerbaijani authorities and Ilham Aliyev, personally,” Zhamanak wrote.
