YEREVAN. – “Can we say that our army and political forces proved that they are ready to withstand Azerbaijani aggression today, as well, just as 20-25 years ago?” Hayots Ashkharh daily asked this question to ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Artak Davtyan, who responded as follows:

“Of course, and this was a good lesson first for Azerbaijan and its bigheaded, boastful president. It became clear to everyone what our answer will be should Azerbaijan were to begin full-scale operations against Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] and Armenia.  

“We have announced at the highest level: If Azerbaijan attempts to carry out the threats, a response will be tantamount, and this response was not long in coming.  

“If the adversary resorts to a larger-scale military ‘adventure,’ I’m confident [that] the counter strike will be so strong that it will just undermine the foundations of the Azerbaijani state.

“We [Armenians] likewise need to learn lessons from what happened, [and] be ready at any time to resist the encroachments by Azerbaijan and his older brother, Turkey.”
