YEREVAN. – Ex-Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan—who is now Armenia’s Ambassador to US—had a plan to unburden capital city Yerevan, Hraparak daily reported.

“He seriously intended to move the Culture and the Sport [and Youth Affairs] Ministries to Gyumri [city]. He even had visited Gyumri and looked for a [corresponding] building.

“The plan, however, became passé together with him; it was frozen.

“[Incumbent PM] Hovik Abrahamyan [, on the other hand,] is now engaged in bringing his oligarch surroundings to the tax domain, and he has disregarded this ‘grand’ idea.

“Our reporter asked Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan about the fate of the plan. ‘It was a working order, the talk has not yet ended, it continues,’ the deputy minister comforted.

“[But] it is known that the minister of culture was wholeheartedly against the plan to go to Gyumri,” Hraparak wrote.
