YEREVAN. – The No. 1 political question which is asked in Armenia lately is this: What is happening in domestic politics? Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.    

“[President] Serzh Sargsyan has announced that he will no longer run for president, and if Armenia transitions to a parliamentary system, he will not run the PM’s office either.

“A huge uncertainty has arisen in the governmental and non-governmental political field, the government, [and] among the oligarchs, and everyone wants to know who will be the future authorities.

“And since everything is so mixed up that there is no apparent heir to the [incumbent] authorities, [and] the huge conformist political layer has decided to ‘smoothen’ the political field in such a way that it will be basically incomprehensible [as to] where the authorities are, where the opposition is,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
