YEREVAN. – Due to a weak economic growth in Armenia, the inflation is quite low this year in the country, Hayots Ashkharh daily reported.

“According to official data, inflation [in Armenia] reached 0.4 percent last month and 0.8 percent in August, as compared to the same period last year.

“Such a low 12-month inflation rate was not recorded in Armenia for a long time. This is certainly conducive socially, but it is not so beneficial to the economy; it restricts the economic processes.

“Given this fact, the Central Bank [of Armenia] has recently begun to frequently reflect on the refinancing interest rate. The Central Bank [CB] plans to continue the relaxation of the monetary loan conditions.

“As a result of this and other factors, some invigoration of inflation is expected [in Armenia]. The CB forecasts that the inflation rate will get closer to the target indicator solely at the end of the first quarter of next year.

“The Central Bank links the bases for some future invigoration of inflation primarily to the domestic economic environment,” Hayots Ashkharh wrote.
