YEREVAN. – According to the reliable information which Haykakan Zhamanak daily has received, the talks between the world-renowned French Carrefour hypermarket chain and Armenia’s Yerevan City supermarket network have basically completed and final agreements have been reached, the daily reported.

“Accordingly, twelve supermarkets belonging to the Yerevan City network will be transferred to Carrefour by no later than the beginning of next year and, subsequently, there will be no more supermarkets called Yerevan City in [Armenia’s capital city] Yerevan.

“Under the [business] deal, Carrefour will lease solely the Yerevan City spaces, and carry out the complementing of interior equipment and furnishing completely with its own standards.

“If we consider that the Carrefour hypermarket will begin to operate also at Yerevan Mall in several weeks, it can be stated that a radical change will happen soon in the retail trade of consumer goods and imports in Armenia,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
