YEREVAN. – Even though Armenian Deputy Prime Minister and Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan was continuing to work on Tuesday, the name of his replacement is circulated at the government backstage, Hraparak daily reported.

“[It is opposition] ARF [Dashnaktsutyun Party] member, former Minister of Agriculture Davit Lokyan, who is close to [PM] Hovik Abrahamyan, and his son is the PM’s advisor.

“Although it is said that Armen Gevorgyan decided to leave the post of the Deputy Prime Minister on his own volition and even [President] Serzh Sargsyan’s reassurances were ineffective, those in the government did not rule out that he be appointed Secretary of the National Security Council, which has remained vacant after the resignation of [now opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party Chairman] Arthur Baghdasaryan,” Hraparak wrote.
