YEREVAN. – According to a source close to the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), a very heated discussion had taken place within the framework of the ANC Youth Congress, and in connection with some occurrences at the previous rally of the opposition, Iravunk daily reported.

“Some young activists had seen at the rally some ‘goodfellas;’ that is, completely apolitical semi-criminal, or criminal elements, of their neighborhoods.

“In their view, the PAP [i.e., non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party] members have engaged these elements, and there was quite a heated debate as to the extent it is permitted to make the criminal [element] a participant in the struggle,” Iravunk wrote.
