YEREVAN. – The activities of the world-renowned French Carrefour hypermarket chain, which will begin in Armenia at the end of January next year, are taking place in a quite tense pre-start climate, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.
“The local manufacturers and suppliers claim this. The Armenia-based producers assure that Carrefour offers such terms to consume their products that it makes their business senseless.
“It demands a 25-percent discount to take [their] products, but during negotiations, it ‘goes down’ to up to 20-22 percent.
“Numerous manufacturers and suppliers claim that, in this case, they not only will not receive profits, but work at a loss,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
