YEREVAN. – Haykakan Zhamanak daily’s sources at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia inform that there are concerns at the ministry backstage about a possible raising of the price of the Russian natural gas being supplied to the country, the daily reported.

“According to the contract that was signed at the end of last year with [Russian natural gas giant] Gazprom [company], the price of gas being supplied to Armenia shall remain unchanged over the next five years. But there is a condition, according which this price is directly correlated to the RF [i.e., Russian Federation] domestic prices. If the domestic prices rise in the RF, the price of gas being supplied to Armenia likewise will increase.

“A [respective] change in the price of gas is already possible in the spring of next year,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
