YEREVAN. – The amount of Armenia’s national debt continues to be a concern, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun daily reported.

“Armenia’s national debt amounted to 4,464,796,000 [US] dollars, as of November 1 of this year. Moreover, this amount increased by more than 15 million dollars, as compared to October 1.

“The external debt—3.7 billion dollars, whose 3.2 billion is the government debt—makes up the lion’s share of Armenia’s national debt.

“[In addition], the additional financing loan agreement—in the amount of 40 million US dollars—of the electricity supply reliability program, which the Government of Armenia had signed with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development [IBRD], was approved in the last Cabinet session.

“This means that once the NA [i.e., the National Assembly of Armenia] ratifies the agreement, Armenia’s external debt will increase by 40 million dollars,” Chorrord Ishkhanutyun wrote.
