YEREVAN. – The Government of Armenia has cut down on education spending in the 2015 State Budget draft, Chorrord Ishkhanutyun (CI) daily reported.

“In an interview with CI, ES [i.e., Education and Science] Minister Armen Ashotyan commented on what occurred as follows:

‘“The program spending in the education sector has increased owing to wage increase, to compensate for the price hikes in the public utilities as well as in the program directions.

‘“And the reduction you have noted has two sources. One is the some reduction in the volumes of capital construction, [and] the other is due to the World Bank’s timetable.

‘“I’m confident that the actual performance for 2015 will be higher than [what] we have today.’” Chorrord Ishkhanutyun wrote.
