YEREVAN. – Petrol tax is too high in Armenia, head of the Union of Commodity Producers Vazgen Safaryan told the journalists on Thursday, adding tax, VAT, customs service reach 40%.

“In this case petrol becomes too expensive for the population, and to promote its purchase, it is necessary to reduce import taxes,” Safaryan said.

In his turn, management expert Harutyun Mesropyan stated that data on petrol import may be reduced to avoid additional taxes.

To note,  IMF reports that petrol and diesel fuel prices were changed to fixed payments with VAT since last January. However, current prices and VAT is even less as compared to the previous price. That is, petrol tax with shifting to VAT has been reduced.
