ISTANBUL. – Armenian Genay Ogmen from Istanbul was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his sister and her Turkish husband. The murder occurred in the evening on December 12, ten days after the wedding.
As the Turkish Radikal informs, the lawyer of Ogmen Adnan Mercan announced that the murder did not happen intentionally and occurred only under the heat of passion. The lawyer informed that before the murder Ogmen’s brother-in-law had insulted the honor and religion of Ogmen.
The bodies of Ogmen’s sister Sona and her husband, Muslim Zeker was found in a car in Istanbul’s Fatih district. After that Ogmen went to the police and reported about the murder.
As Ogmen told, the family was against the wedding. They offered that Zeker accepted Christianity and that the wedding took place in a Church. However Zeker insulted Ogmen, the Armenian traditions and church and Ogmen shot him raged with anger. Then he shot his sister and left the car.
