YEREVAN. – Armenia’s economic activity index comprised 6.1 percent in January-March 2012, as compared with the same time period last year, the National Statistical Service bulletin reports. 

And the economic activity growth’s primary engines continue to be industry, with 16.4-percent, and the services sector, with 11.5-percent growth rates. Agriculture is at zero percent, whereas trade turnover increased by 0.3 percent. Construction continues to fall and is currently at 5.5 percent.  

Armenia’s average monthly salary in January-March 2012 is AMD 113,700 (approx. US$ 293), which is a 5-percent increase from the year past.

Foreign trade turnover constituted $1.3 billion (15-percent growth), whose export is $348 million (32.5-percent growth) and import is $955 million (9.7-percent growth).
