Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov shared details of a phone call between Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, which he said lasted more than an hour and a half.

According to the Russian side, Putin expressed condolences and support to Trump over the assassination attempt and strongly condemned the incident. Trump, for his part, said he believes a deal to resolve the Ukrainian conflict is "already close."

Ushakov also said that Putin told Trump Russia was ready to declare a ceasefire for the Victory Day period, and that the American president reportedly supported the initiative.

The situation in the Middle East was discussed separately. Putin allegedly warned of potentially "extremely damaging consequences" if the US and Israel resume military action, and described a ground operation against Iran as a dangerous scenario. He also expressed support for extending the ceasefire with Iran and stated his intention to maintain contacts with Iran, Gulf states, Israel and the United States.

Putin also briefed Trump on the situation at the front, saying Russian forces are maintaining the initiative, and passed on congratulations to Trump's wife Melania on her recent birthday.

According to Ushakov, the conversation ended in a "warm atmosphere."
