FIFA has made an important decision: the 2029 U-20 football World Cup will be held in Armenia and Georgia, prime minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian Government on Thursday.

“On this occasion, I want to congratulate us and Georgia,” the PM added.

Also, he thanked his Georgian colleagues, and personally Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, for their effective and close cooperation in this matter.

According to Pashinyan, this is a great event for Armenia, both in football and in all other aspects.

“I think we should form a working group, an organizing committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan,” the Armenian premier said, emphasizing the importance of discussing the issue of whether the organizing committee should be joint with or separate from FIFA and Georgia.

Pashinyan added that the number of tourists visiting Armenia will be unprecedented due to this event.
