Let's imagine a moment when, as a result of border demarcation, Artsvashen returns to Armenia's control, and we discover that a large mosque has been built there. What should we do? Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan asked at a press briefing on Thursday.

According to him, such a decision could also be made (ed.: referring to the recent demolition of Armenian churches in Stepanakert, the capital of Azerbaijani-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, by Azerbaijan). He added that these churches were built in 2015-2016. Pashinyan said that cultural and historical monuments have certain criteria.

The Armenian PM reaffirmed that Artsvashen village is a sovereign territory of Armenia, and Azerbaijan and Armenia have mutually recognized each other's territorial integrity, based on the Alma-Ata Declaration.

"Will the residents of Artsvashen say, 'It’s ok. It is a cultural and historical monument?' When talking about one thing, one must talk about the whole thing. I have no desire to talk about that issue. Has Armenia ever done anything, etc.? I see that Azerbaijan is also saying things about Armenia. They talk about numerous war crimes in Armenia; they talk about that in Azerbaijan too," the Armenian premier added.

According to him, Armenia's response should be based on the signed documents. "The question is, are we continuing the conflict and the Karabakh movement or not? As for your remaining questions, I can provide additional information off the record. Although I think you know that information, but you pretend not to know," Pashinyan said, addressing some reporters.
