Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been invited to the next meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which will take place on May 4 in the Armenian capital Yerevan, the BBC's Turkish service reports.

The meeting will be co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

The meeting comes at a time of profound geopolitical change, and its main topics will be increasing democratic resilience, strengthening ties, as well as strengthening economic and energy security.

There has been no official statement from Turkey yet on whether Erdogan will attend the Yerevan meeting. It is too early to say whether Erdogan will attend. The list of participants has not yet been finalized. His participation will be determined in the coming days, an EU representative said.

It is emphasized that if Erdogan does not attend the Yerevan summit, Turkey will not be represented, since according to the EPC rules, only heads of state and government can participate in it. Representation at the ministerial level or lower is not allowed.
