The Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan is severing relations with the European Parliament. The respective decision was made today at the plenary session of the Milli Majlis—and in connection with the European Parliament’s alleged activities against Azerbaijan.

In addition, the process of termination of Azerbaijan’s membership in the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly will be initiated. During the respective procedure, the Milli Majlis delegation will not participate in Euronest events.

The Milli Majlis’ participation in the activities of the European Union-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee will also be suspended.

A commission was established at the Milli Majlis session to prepare and adopt a corresponding decision. A group of Milli Majlis MPs was included in the commission.

The text of the decision was publicized by Milli Majlis Deputy Speaker Ziyafet Asgarov. According to the document, the Milli Majlis suspends all forms of cooperation with the European Parliament in all directions.

After debates, the draft resolution was put to a vote and adopted unanimously.
