French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Armenia on a three-day state visit.

Macron was welcomed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, and Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.

Although Pashinyan had earlier said that Brigitte Macron would also come to Armenia, she did not arrive.

It should be noted that Macron will first take part in the summit of the European Political Community, which will be held in Yerevan, after which Macron and Pashinyan will hold one-on-one talks, followed by expanded-format meetings, after which they will make a joint press statement. It is expected that, following the visit, the leaders of the two countries will sign a document on strategic partnership.

The French president will also meet with President Vahagn Khachaturyan, visit the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex, and tour the Matenadaran, and then on the last day of the visit — May 5 — travel to Gyumri accompanied by Pashinyan. Macron will pay tribute to the victims of the Spitak earthquake, after which, accompanied by Pashinyan, he will attend a large concert in Vardanants Square dedicated to Armenian-French friendship. The government allocated 393 million drams from the state budget for its organization — more than one million dollars.
