The Georgian government is moving in the wrong direction despite its desire to join the EU, while Europe is not only geography, but also values and principles. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Yerevan before the start of the European Political Community summit

“Of course, the summit taking place in Yerevan also shows how important the Caucasus is, especially now, when there is war in Iran. We are talking about connectivity, but also about resilience to the threats we face. As for relations between Georgia and Europe, if you look at the geography, you will see which countries are located here. Thus, of course, discussions are underway about what we can do in this direction to advance connectivity along the Middle Corridor. We have certain issues in connection with Georgia, given that the government is effectively taking no steps despite statements about wanting to join the European Union. We see that they are moving in the wrong direction. This also imposes limitations on us, for example, on the issue of allocating funding,” Kallas said.
