The latest statements by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, are a manifestation of extreme ignorance. The destruction of cultural values is not an internal sovereign issue of this or that country. Mane Tandilyan, co-founder of the Country to Live party of Armenia, stated during a protest rally being held in parallel with the 8th European Political Community Summit being held in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, on Monday. The matter is about Torosyan's view, which indirectly insinuated that the destruction of Armenian cultural values in Azerbaijan is an internal matter of the given country.

Tandilyan added that cultural values are a universal value. And Arsen Torosyan, as the opposition figure believes, is embarrassing himself and presenting Armenia to the world in an unfavorable light. “All these statements are made to please Azerbaijan and the [Azerbaijani president] Aliyev regime, so that this situation in Armenia is maintained, which they are able to ‘sell’ to the Armenian people as ‘peace,’” Tandilyan said, adding that Azerbaijan’s current silence before the upcoming parliamentary election in Armenia cannot be characterized as “peace.”

According to her, this is done only to ensure the reproduction of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s power. And later, Azerbaijan will continue the policy of putting forward new demands before Armenia. “Peace is necessary, but it is a result of the policy pursued, not a goal, because in the second case it turns into a means of maintaining one’s own power, which is what today’s [Armenian] authorities are busy with,” Mane Tandilyan said.

Referring to the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, the oppositionist added: “It is impossible to express the presence of the leaders of European countries in Armenia in any other way than interference in the internal election of the Armenian people.”
