We wish Armenia and Azerbaijan nothing but peace that will be sustainable, comprehensive, and long-term. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on May 4 at the plenary session of the 8th summit of the European Political Community.

“We wish peace to you, Mr. Prime Minister, and to President Aliyev. We wish this for both states,” he said.

Zelensky emphasized the importance of Armenia standing together with European countries today. He added that in the past 24 years, his visit to Armenia was the first visit by a president of Ukraine, and this is indeed a significant fact. It shows the scale of the unity of those who value life.

Zelensky also welcomed the participation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in this summit, noting that the time has come to turn the common values shared by Europe and Canada into joint opportunities.

“Dear friends, the challenges are obvious. We see that the war in Iran has not yet ended, and it may cause prolonged instability and raise the cost of living for everyone. Our cooperation in energy and security must be real; we must help each other prepare for winter, for energy challenges, and we must strive for long-term solutions in the Strait of Hormuz,” the president of Ukraine said.
