The Russian State Duma said that through the European Political Community summit—which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also participated in, the French and Armenian authorities are trying to raise their own ratings and divert public attention from “catastrophic conditions.” Russian MP Alexander Tolmachev expressed this opinion in an interview with Gazeta.ru.
“Armenia could repeat Ukraine’s fate if it makes the wrong choice of historical path. The neighboring country is taking a risk by serving itself as a ‘dish’ on the European ‘table,’” Tolmachev noted.
According to the Russian lawmaker, statements about supporting the Ukrainian armed forces and economy are completely meaningless. In reality, Europe only wants to know which resources of Ukraine and Armenia can be “appropriated.”
“The real goal is one: to engage in blindfolding and create the illusion of ‘strong unity.’ Of course, such unity is impossible, since Europe is not going to talk to either Armenia or Ukraine as equals. As for Zelenskyy’s participation [in the aforesaid summit in Yerevan], let me just note this: by meeting with the illegitimate leader of a terrorist regime, the leaders of the European Union are questioning their own legitimacy," the Russian MP concluded.
