Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer have signed a strategic partnership declaration, Pashinyan himself announced on Monday.

“With today’s Joint Declaration with Keir Starmer on a Strategic Partnership between Armenia & the United Kingdom, we open a new & promising chapter in Armenia-UK relations built on shared values & strengthened cooperation,” Pashinyan wrote on X.

And the respective statement released by the Armenian PM’s office says that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Keir Starmer, within the framework of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Starmer’s visit to Armenia and described it as historic, as this is the first visit of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that the results of this visit and meeting will give a new impetus to bilateral relations, and cooperation in various directions will develop and expand.

Keir Starmer, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and for organizing the European Political Community summit at a high level. The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom stressed the importance of expanding multi-sectoral cooperation with Armenia.

The interlocutors exchanged views on both the bilateral agenda and topics of regional importance.
