The United Arab Emirates said on Monday that its armed forces had intercepted three missiles launched by Iran, while a fourth fell into the sea, nearly a month after a fragile ceasefire in the Middle East war, Al Arabiya reports.

An alarm was raised shortly after authorities withdrew an earlier warning.

According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, all the missiles were intercepted over the UAE’s territorial waters.

“The sounds heard in remote areas of the country are the result of the successful interception of aerial threats,” the ministry said in a statement published on X.

During the first warning, residents were advised to “immediately take shelter in the nearest protected building.” Authorities later rescinded the warning, sending a follow-up message stating: “We assure you that the situation is currently safe.”

Earlier on Monday, the UAE said an Iranian drone had attacked an ADNOC oil tanker in the blocked Strait of Hormuz, as the United States prepared to begin escorting ships through the waterway.

Two drones struck the MV Barakah off the coast of Oman, but there were no reports of casualties, UAE state oil giant ADNOC said, adding that the vessel was not carrying cargo.
