Armenia has established a strategic partnership with the European Union, has very close relations with India, has strategic partnerships with China and Kazakhstan, and continues to maintain strong ties with Russia, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during the Yerevan Dialogue 2026 international forum Wednesday in the Armenian capital.

At the same time, Armenia’s goal is to diversify its foreign policy relations, he added.

For decades, if not centuries, Armenia thought that in this hostile environment it needed an important friend, a “big brother” who could protect it. But today, this perception has changed, partly because when Armenia really needed the protection of a strong friend, it did not come. And this has significantly changed Armenia’s perception, and it has been able to reduce its dependence—be it political, economic, or energy. Armenia has been able to reduce its dependence on one center, the FM noted.

Armenia has established a strategic partnership with the US which plays an important role in establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and unblocking transport infrastructure in the South Caucasus, Mirzoyan added.

He noted that the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project includes railways, power grids, internet cables, and much more. It is about connections—between Armenia and Azerbaijan, between Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, as well as the region, Europe and Central Asia, the Armenian FM concluded.
