Elon Musk's company, Tesla, has announced a service campaign for its discontinued low-cost four-wheel drive Cybertruck pickup. The issue concerns 173 vehicles with standard 18-inch wheels, reports Carscoops.

But those with optional 20-inch wheels are not subject to the terms of this campaign. The recall covers vehicles manufactured between March 21, 2024 and November 25, 2025.

The company has no information about any accidents or injuries related to the problem, but three warranty claims have been registered.

The reason is the possibility of wheels coming off while driving. According to the manufacturer, the loads acting on uneven roads and during turns can cause cracks in the brake discs around the holes for the wheel studs. In this case, the entire stud can separate from the hub.

Tesla engineers had first identified a possible malfunction in August 2025 during pre-production tests. At that time, cracks were found on the brake discs, although the mounts were still intact at that time. Further investigation, however, showed that the problem was much more serious. Defective parts were installed not only at the factory during assembly, but could also be used at some Tesla service centers when replacing brakes. Therefore, the recall also applies to cars that have undergone such repairs.

Although the recall documents indicate March 21, 2024 as the starting release date, Tesla clarified that the actual production of the 18-inch wheeled model began on August 28, 2025. Its assembly was completed less than three months later, on November 5, 2025. The decision was attributed to low demand for this variant.

All work on replacing the front and rear brake discs, as well as other parts related to the problem, will be carried out free of charge.
