Due to Yerevan's anti-Russian statements, persecution of the Russian language and rapprochement with Russia's enemies, Armenia can completely lose the advantages of membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Moscow cannot leave all this unanswered. Deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma, Pyotr Tolstoy, stated this during a roundtable discussion on Armenia-Russia relations.

"The advantages that Armenia enjoyed, and which the current leadership of Armenia used, including in domestic policy, in connection with membership in the EAEU, can very easily disappear. The reason is that anti-Russian statements, persecution of the Russian language, attempts at sharp anti-Russian expressions, as well as warm embraces with [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, naturally, cannot remain unanswered by the Russian Federation," the Russian lawmaker said.

Tolstoy added that Russia will consistently take measures and try to "bring those Armenian politicians who have decided that they can survive without Russia to their senses."
