Russia has forwarded information to Armenia about the consequences that may arise if Yerevan joins the European Union (EU), Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said.

“The Russian Embassy [in Armenia] has officially forwarded a letter from [Russian] Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev addressed to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia stating that if the process of [Armenia’s] accession to the EU ⁠continues, the Russian side will suspend or unilaterally terminate the Agreement on Cooperation in the Supply of Natural Gas, Petroleum Products and Rough Diamonds,” the Russian MFA spokesperson told RIA Novosti.
