The US military attacked an unspecified facility in Iran early Thursday morning, CNN reports.

The target was an object that posed a threat to US forces and commercial shipping, a US official said.

The report, however, did not specify the nature of this object, its location, and the consequences of the strikes.

In addition, according to CNN, the US military shot down drones launched from Iran.

Separately, Axios reporter Barak Ravid, citing a senior US official, presented the details of the incident.

“A senior U.S. official said Iran fired 4 one-way drones at a U.S. commercial ship. The U.S. military shot down the drones and attacked another Iranian drone launching unit on the ground before it launched, the official added," Ravid wrote on X.
