Armenia is awaiting the best offer in the nuclear energy sector, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a press briefing Thursday.

Responding to a question about Armenia's relations with the US in the context of documents signed during US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's short visit to Yerevan recently, Pashinyan stated that from now on and forever Armenia's strategy will always be to have an alternative.

According to him, today's military parade in Yerevan is evidence of this, as military products from seven countries were displayed.

Pashinyan announced that there will be a diversification of relations in the energy sector. According to him, Armenia has the opportunity to be energy independent, having unlimited solar energy reserves, and the country’s cooperation with the EU will be in the renewable energy sector.

"Active negotiations are underway with partners in the nuclear energy sector on the construction of a modular plant; we are waiting for or choosing the best offer. If it is from the Russian side, [Armenia will work together] with them, if from the American side, with them," Pashinyan said, also listing the options of China, South Korea, and France.

The Armenian premier explained the idea he had previously voiced, according to which dependence on a single source should be replaced by dependence on multiple sources, which would be independence. At the same time, he noted his intention to continue working with the Eurasian Economic Union.
