If Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announces Armenia's plans to "get rich," then let him ensure it, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in an interview with Vesti newscast.

Armenian Prime Minister on Wednesday stated that in the event of a deterioration in Armenia’s relations with Russia, Armenia was not afraid of high prices for raw materials, since the country plans to get rich.

"It is illogical to threaten Armenia, for example, with high prices, because there is an answer to the threat of high prices: we [i.e. Armenia] will have much more money, so much that it will not seem expensive to us. Today, Armenia is becoming a ‘Crossroads of Peace.’ This means that Armenia will become not a country of thousands and millions, but billions and trillions," Pashinyan had said during an election campaign in Garni village of Armenia.

"I cannot comment on the statements of Armenia’s leader. If he thinks that the country will become rich, let him ensure it," Lavrov said.

And earlier, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia had warned Armenia about the possible cancellation of agreements on the supply of Russian natural gas, oil products, and diamonds if Yerevan joined the European Union.
