A separate meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is not planned in Astana, but they can communicate within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) summit, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“A separate meeting is not planned. But if they wish, they can have a wonderful conversation ‘backstage’” Peskov told reporters on Friday in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, where the EAEU summit is starting.

Asked whether Grigoryan would take any messages from the leaders of the other EAEU countries to Yerevan, Peskov said: “The summit is now starting in a narrow format, and, of course, sensitive topics will be discussed right there.”

At the same time, he added that if Putin and Grigoryan consider it appropriate, their meeting will take place.

And commenting on the restrictions imposed by the Russian side on the import of certain Armenian goods, Peskov said that no response had been received yet from Yerevan on this issue.
